Lincoln's Room Reveal- A Blue Woodland Themed Big Boy Room

Updated: Jan 31, 2022

Today is the day!! The odds were against me though...if you follow me on instagram you may have seen that I sprained my ankle yesterday morning while working out (thank god I was at home and not at the gym) and had to go to the ER for x-rays, which took up a huge chunk of my day. I could have sworn I heard a crack when I fell so I was beyond relieved it wasn't anything more serious than a sprain. They did give me crutches and the advice to stay off of it for a week (like how?!), so we'll see how that goes. I'm hopeful it will heal up in a few weeks! Anyway, enough about that and on to Lincoln's room!! I'm sticking a fork in it- it's finally done! I love how it turned out and I hope you love it as much as I do! If you're new here you can check out all of the progress posts that got us to this point right here:

But if you're all caught up, let's get into it! The wallpaper from Pimpelmees is really the stand out in here- it's so special and was my big purchase that I knew would "make" the room. It didn't disappoint. I love it so much! We also added a play tent which Lincoln loves- if I brought him food he would probably happily live in there- ha!. I also made his bed with some really cute things!

The two blue pillows are from Ikea, I totally lucked out with those- I had Kris snag them when he picked up the dresser and I assumed the color wouldn't be the right tone of blue, but they were only $3.99 each so I took a gamble, it turned out they were completely perfect. The striped pillow came with and matches the sheets under the duvet, which I got from Target, it's a nice little pop of subtle pattern. Then the pom-pom pillow was a quick snag at Hobby Lobby, I didn't think I needed another pillow, but this one was 50% off and calling to me so I grabbed it. I'm glad I did! That little fox pillow was a Pottery Barn Kids find that I bought waaaay back when I first started this room and was in the original mood board, I just knew it would be perfect.

For the duvet I lucked out and this is actually the same one that was in this room back when it was a pink guest room (which you can see here). I obviously wanted the wallpaper to take the focus so only a simple white duvet would do.

I also added these simple white Ikea curtains. I originally wanted a roman shade, but ended up not wanting to spend the money on a custom window treatment. I decided to use the same curtain rod that we had, my brother did help me cut it down about 12" so it was a nice snug fit around the window. You can see here how it used to extend awkwardly past the window frame, which I typically wouldn't mind, but it felt off since it couldn't extend the same distance on the other side of the window due to the wall. I'm usually a fan of hanging curtains high and wide to make them look larger, but I didn't want to block a single inch of wallpaper which is why I also hemmed the curtains to fall right at the windowsill!

The rug over here was a facebook marketplace find right before Christmas- I had ordered two rugs online (this one and this one) and neither one looked right in the space. So when I started hunting for another rug option I realized a faux fur rug was going to look amazing, but after not getting a full refund for both of the rugs I had ordered (they kept about $30 for each rug off my refund to account for shipping), I was in no mood to order anything else online. When I found this guy on Marketplace for $75 I was thrilled and before picking it up I decided to ask him if he would accept $50. I'm careful when I haggle- I will only do it online, not in person (#introvertproblems) and I'll only ask if they will accept lower if it's been listed for awhile, this rug had been sitting on marketplace for a week so I figured he was ready to get rid of it. He was!

I also snagged these cloud bookshelves, I was worried it was a little too matchy-matchy with the cloud light fixture, but they're so subtle and cute I think it works really well for a little reading corner!

And Lincoln's already taking full advantage- I told him I wanted to snap some photos of him in his new room and he immediately started pulling books down for me to read to him!

On the other side of his room across from his bed we've got the Ikea dresser DIY with a few things hung above it now! I splurged on the branch shelf from Pottery Barn, I considered DIY-ing something similar, but after ordering it and seeing the quality and how heavy and substantial it was I'm really glad I didn't- it's so beautiful!

I styled it out with a few of his favorite books and toys and let's be real...it probably won't look like this for long!

Next to the shelf are a few DIY projects I worked on earlier this week!

The faux taxidermy bear head is something that I was envisioning from the very beginning, but couldn't find one I liked that was less than $100 and I was already splurging on the shelf over here so I didn't want to go too crazy. I kind of gave up on the idea for awhile, but over the weekend I happened to find a wooden plaque and giant stuffed bear at Goodwill and it was game over-I knew it was happening! I'm so in love with how it turned out and I'll be sharing the DIY for that project soon!

The 'love you more' sign was also a quick DIY- I was inspired by this art from Pottery Barn, but it was pricey too and in retrospect would have been a bit too large anyway. This is another DIY I'll be sharing soon!

I also wanted to show you a quick peek inside the drawers of the dresser- I shared about this over on instagram, but forgot to mention it in the dresser post- I put some of the extra wallpaper into his drawers for a liner!

In the wider drawers I had to piece two widths together, but I actually love how it looks! It's such a fun detail!

Lincoln and I are obsessed with his new room- he loves it and has told me he can't wait to sleep in here (we'll see), I'm hopeful.
