The Kitchen Reveal (with our painted marble countertops)
Updated: Feb 3, 2022
Several months ago I started working on a budget friendly makeover of our kitchen, the space was certainly already in pretty good shape, but I desperately wanted to take it from builder basic to special. You can see the before photos right here. And now after three months of hard work, here's where we are!
I can't even believe how far we have come, this space is SO bright and happy now! The biggest project in here was painting the countertops. You can read about that full process right here, but I'll tell you now that I absolutely LOVE how they turned out. I keep saying that I feel like my kitchen lost thirty pounds (we used this Giani marble painting kit).

I love having a clean and pretty backdrop when I'm working in here now!
Changing out the lighting was also a game changer, we swapped out every builder basic fixture that was in here (there were three total). I love this big brass guy over the island that I found on Facebook Marketplace so much! It feels old and weird and is like a big piece of jewelry.
This light above the sink was a last minute find. I knew I wanted something similar to these, but had no luck finding a brass one, only black and silver versions. So when I found this one on Facebook Marketplace I pounced.
The hardware was my big splurge in this room- we swapped out all the black knobs for these brass ones from Rejuvenation in aged brass and they are STUNNING! It made such a big difference and that was definitely my favorite project of this makeover- easy and gorgeous, sign me up! We did use this 4" pull on the trash cabinet and my only regret is not ordering more to use for the top row of drawers (including that faux drawer in the corner without a knob), I may end up updating that in the future!
I also swapped out the pantry door hardware for these gorgeous 6" pulls.
Our pantry makeover is still going strong and I love the little peek of blue inside, it's a fun surprise.
It's also the same color we used on the other side of the kitchen in the breakfast nook- Farrow and Ball Parma Gray.

The breakfast nook is essentially the same as the last time you saw it, but I did add those roman shades I ordered a few weeks back! They work amazingly well and I love how clean and simple they are. Back on the other side of the room I had so much fun adding all of the styling details! I added touches of art, blue and white glassware, Wedgewood, and warm wood tones.
I think taking the time to swap out some of our utilitarian objects for "pretty" versions made a big impact too.

I also made a point to upgrade the desk area (you can see how it looked originally here), I swapped out the chair for this Louis style chair I found on Facebook Marketplace.
I also have been hanging my meal planner up for the week on the wall to the right of the desk, usually with a piece of tape.
This brass magnetic board from The Container Store was a much prettier solution!
This painting was also a last minute find at one of my favorite local antique stores (I literally found this yesterday while I was in the middle of taking photos, I stopped mid-photoshoot to run around getting a few last things- ha!). I love the colors and of course you know I love the blue!
Let me know what you think about my budget kitchen makeover- I think my favorite part is the countertops- what about you?
