Updates in the Dining Room
This week I decided to make some changes in our dining room. I started here...
And from here I changed out the curtains and put back the old ones (wrinkled from being in a bag in the attic), removed the lamps off of the buffet, swapped out the rug, and then tossed on a white bed sheet as a tablecloth.
Even though everything was wrinkled I knew I was on the right track here. So I kept going. A lot of you suggested the seat cushions were now jarring the space. I love the cobalt, but was curious to see how it would look with a more tone-on-tone look. I do have leftover curtain fabric I could do some reupholstering with. So I did a little photoshopping...
And then I put it to a vote in stories.
It was pretty close, but the light blue option did win at 63%. But then the plot thickens- a few of you suggested a patterned fabric or different shades of blue- like navy or a darker muted blue. a few people even thought I should swap out the chairs entirely. So that got me thinking... I ended up pulling the wood chairs out and pulled in a few other chair options from around the house. I don't have enough of any of these chairs and the gold ones aren't even sturdy enough to hold real humans, but it was just to get an idea.
It really was a stunning difference. The lighter chairs allow the credenza to really stand out while right now it's kind of blending into the wooden chairs. I decided to go ahead and style out the space with the current chairs too just to make sure I wasn't going crazy.
I'm definitely leaning towards the lighter chair option, so it looks like I'll be adding some new dining chairs to my thrift list! But for now I still love it so much more than I did with the pink accents. Sure, I was trying to be daring and different, but sometimes it's ok to embrace basic too.
What do you think and which chairs do you prefer?
